Congress ‘laying the groundwork’ for impeachment proceedings

News

Jim Clyburn, South Carolina Representative and top-ranking House Democrat, claimed that impeachment proceedings against the sitting US President Donald Trump will definitely be launched, the question is when it would happen. In an interview with CNN Clyburn suggested that the process is already on. “I think we’ve already begun,” he said. “We’ve got all of these committees doing their wok, we’re having hearings.”

“We do believe that if we sufficiently, effectively educate the public, then we will have done our jobs, and we can move on an impeachment vote and it will stand, and maybe it will be what needs to be done to incent the Senate to act.” Jim Clyburn

According to Jerry Nadler, House Judiciary Committee Chairman, Congress should start impeachment proceedings against Trump even though American people would not support it. “They do not know the story,” Nadler said. “They don’t know the facts,” he added.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff claimed that efforts of Congress to impeach Trum are “destined for failure.”

“I think we’re going to do what is right for the country, and at this point, the speaker has not reached the conclusion, and I haven’t either, that it’s the best for the country to put us through an impeachment proceeding that we know will, is, destined for failure in the Senate.” Adam Schiff
