Debate on arming teachers

Senators met to discuss amendments to a wide-ranging bill that is to revise a law passed when 17 people got killed at a Parkland High School last year. The bill will affect several recommendations, including the one that allows more teachers to be armed.

The law allows some classroom teachers to carry guns, but they must go through trainings and psychological evaluations first, and have a role outside the classroom, like being an athletic coach.

Any teacher is allowed to participate, what frightens Democrats, as they say “more guns in school could make them more dangerous”.
There were 34 confrontations between students and teachers last year in Miami-Dade County, said Oscar Braynon. He questioned “Do we think it benefits those confrontations, if we insert a firearm?”
