Adam Schiff, House Intelligence Committee Chairman, in an interview with Rachel Maddow Wednesday evening said that committee is planning to follow up on the Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report into Russian interference in the 2016 election, Real Clear Politics reported
One of the main questions the committee wants to cover is Trump Tower meeting, which took place on June 9th, 2016, and involved top Trump campaign officials, including Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, and Donald Trump Jr., and a Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. Schiff said that they hope to learn what “the significance of the appeals on the Magnitsky Act” was and why the meeting was “of great concern to the FBI”.

“I think it`s very important to underscore that these investigations we`re doing, not just in the Mueller report or Russia, it`s not about Trump. It`s not about even the Congress,” Schiff said.

“It`s about protecting the public from not just this president but any president that acts in an autocratic or unethical way. It`s about protecting our voting infrastructure from any adversary, not just Russia.”
