On Thursday an Iranian intelligence group was attacked online by the United States Cyber Command. American officials think that it could aid to plan the assaults on oil tankers lately. However, online attacks with the help of shadow tactics were set aside for being under threshold of armed conflict. Such operation served as a direct response to the latest attacks on tankers and an American drone.
Several computer system were used for planning the tanker attacks by an Iranian intelligence group. The further breach was directed to other computer systems which took Iranian missile launches under control.
The efficiency of a cyber operation can be estimated through Iranian attempts to fire a missile that might be failed. Such breach might disable the Iranian intelligence group for a while.
Christopher C. Krebs, the director of the department of homeland security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, cautioned against attacks from Iran on American industries and government agencies. According to his words, “malicious cyberactivity” was increasing.
“We will continue to work with our intelligence community and cybersecurity partners to monitor Iranian cyberactivity, share information and take steps to keep America and our allies safe,” Krebs said.
These Iranian actions to reduce networks mean a lot than simply stealing data and money. Such cyberattack effect must be temporary.
