Mohammad Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of Iran, stated Monday that “whoever starts a war with us will not be the one who finishes it.”
Zarif made the statement after US President Donald Trump’s claim that there is “a chance” that military actions against Iran could be taken.
“There is always a chance,” Trump told Piers Morgan on “Good Morning Britain”. “Do I want to? No, I’d rather not. But there is always a chance. I’d much rather talk,” he added. Previously Trump had said that the war would be “the official end of Iran,” media reports say.
US exited Iran’s Obama-era nuclear deal in 2018, which caused current rising tensions between Washington and Tehran. Trump White House has recently deployed a carrier strike group and a bomber task force to the Middle East citing “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings.”
