Kim Kardashian, Reality-TV star, spoke at a White House event “promoting efforts to help ex-felons return to the workforce,” reported New York Post.
Kardashian, currently studying to become a lawyer, said that she decided to “make a difference” after she visited prisons and met with inmates.
“Since the passage of the First Step Act in December, I’ve been speaking with people coming from prison and learning about the challenges they are facing,” wrote Kardashian in one of her Instagram posts before the event. “While I have been able to offer support to some of the individuals I have met, the obstacles to success are an everyday struggle for thousands and more needs to be done. Today, I’m honored to be a part of the announcement that the administration and the private sector are stepping up to create opportunities for these men and women to succeed once home.”
“The one thing I realized that needed so much support, was the reentry of people coming home and seeing the lack of support that really existed,” said Kardashian at the event.
This was not her first visit to the White House. Kardashian has already met with the US President Donald Trump several times and discussed criminal justice reform. “Seeing the compassion that [Trump] has had from criminal justice reform has been really remarkable,” she said.
