Military actions between US and Iran will not occur, yet there is economic war

Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, claimed Wednesday that there will be no war between the US and Iran, reported IRNA.

In an interview with IRNA Shamkhani stated that “Military conflict with the US will not occur.”

Yet, Shamkhani noted that the US is trying to damage the economy of Iran and that US often tends to accuse other governments in order to put pressure on them.

Experts say that Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran and sanctions imposed by the US have “put a strangle on its economy.”

One of the recent reports by the New York Times cited Karim Sadjadpour, expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, as saying that “Iran was getting punched in the face by the Trump administration.”

“The Iranian economy has long been riddled by endemic mismanagement, corruption, cronyism, and brain drain. Sanctions makes all these problems worse,” said Sadjadpour.

Commenting on the US sanctions against Iran, Shamkhani said: “Iran once again will turn all US sanctions into opportunity.”
