US Muslim settlement threatened by terrorism


Religious clashes are not new for the U.S.. Muslims are often victims of various sorts of assaults. Two of four defendants in the preparation of attack on the Muslim settlement of Islamberg in the US state of New York were sentenced to prison, CNY Central reported.

Several young people between the ages of 18 and 20 have been arrested in January this year in the city of Rochester. During the search, they were found to be in possession of several self-made explosive devices. The detainees were charged with conspiracy and possession of weapons.

According to the channel, Andrew Chrysler and Brian Colaneri had previously pleaded guilty in conspiracy of the second degree concerning terrorism. Men were sentenced to 4 and 12 years in prison.

Convictions of two other defendants are noted to be handed down later.

The Islamberg settlement was founded in the 1980s by a Pakistani Sufi theologian, Mubarak Ali Gilani, in Tompkins, Delaware, NY.
