Nancy Pelosi: Public isn’t there on impeachment

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed last week that she will not launch impeachment proceedings as Americans are not ready, CBS reported.

Pelosi reportedly spoke to House Democrats on a conference call Friday, when she said that “the public isn’t there on impeachment.”

A person familiar with the matter, who spoke about the private call on condition of anonymity, said that Pelosi echoed her previous claims that the case against the US President Donald Trump should be “as strong as possible” to launch impeachment.

“If and when we act, people will know he gave us no choice,” she added.

House Democrats mostly supports impeachment, yet Pelosi says that the decision made by the House must be “unifying and not dividing,” and opening impeachment inquiry now may have bad impact.
