House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attended a meeting with the US president Donald Trump and other Democrats at the White House on Wednesday. At the meeting Trump said that Democrats should stop their investigations into his presidency if they want to continue working on infrastructure and other shared priorities. Having heard the statement Pelosi accused Trump of having a “temper tantrum.”
Pelosi released a letter she’d written to lawmakers, where she stated that “the only job the president seems to be concerned with is his own. He threatened to stop working with Democrats on all legislation unless we end oversight of his administration and he had a temper tantrum for us all to see.”
Trump didn’t leave that accusation unnoticed and commented on it posting on Twitter late Wednesday. “This is not true. I was purposely very polite and calm, much as I was minutes later with the press in the Rose Garden. Can be easily proven. It is all such a lie!” tweeted Trump.
After the meeting with Democrats Trump told reporters, “We’ve had a House investigation. We have Senate investigations. We have investigations like nobody has ever had before. And there’s nothing – we did nothing wrong.”
“Let them [Democrats] play their games. We’re going to go down one track at a time,” Trump added. “Let them finish up. And we’ll be all set.”
