The Associated Press reported that New York State Attorney Office does not plan to file new charges in the case of paying money for silence to women who claimed to have had an intimate relationship with US President Donald Trump.
According to the sources, this decision was made, regardless of the availability of data indicating that Trump and his background were likely to be aware of these payments.
On Thursday, the electronic base of the Federal Court of the Southern District of New York got the declassified documents concerning the proceedings of the former lawyer Trump Michael Cohen, who is sentenced for a number of crimes, including the payment for women silence about extra-marital affair with Donald Trump in the past. Cohen said he acted on Trump’s orders, but he denies it.
The FBI analyzed the telephone conversations which indicate that Trump, as well as Hope Hicks, who was his assistant at that time, was aware of the payment of money to at least one of the women, an ex-porn actress Stephanie Clifford.
In December 2018, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison for a number of crimes, including tax evasion, violation of campaign finance rules, fraud in the banking sector and the provision of false information to US financial institutions. Breach of the rules of financing resulted in the misuse of funds allocated to the election campaign.
