Former US Special Counsel Robert Mueller appeared before House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees last week. His appearance was quite controversial as many said Mueller did not say anything we hadn’t known before, others defended Mueller’s testimony.
In an exclusive interview with Maria Bartimoro of FNC’s, House Intelligence Committee member Davin Nunes claimed that it was clear that “Mueller didn’t write the report.”
When asked about his reaction to Mueller’s testimony, Nunes responded: “Well, first of all, it’s clear that Mueller didn’t write the report. And so wrote the report? We think there were five or six lawyers involved. We’re still trying to get to bottom of that.”
Nunes argued that Trump campaign officials did not collude with Russians, and noted that although Mueller charged Russian officials the US have not arrested anyone. “Why?” Nunes questioned. “Because there were none, and that’s what we said two-and-a-half years ago.”
“They were only looking for the Russians that were mysterious, because they don’t exist, and they never found them.”
Mueller once again said that he did not fully exonerate Trump, explaining that his team “did not reach a determination as to whether the President committed a crime.” He also stated that Russia remains to be a threat to the US and suggested that Russians “expect to interfere during next campaign.”
Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, whose name has been mentioned in Mueller’s report as she met with Trump campaign officials in June, 2016, commented on Mueller’s testimony.
“Mueller’s team ‘did not reach determination as to whether the President committed a crime,’ yet determined that ‘Russia is a threat and Russian election interference is an ongoing issue.’ Basically, it means that Mueller could not determine what is going on inside the country, but managed to determine what was going to happen in future and who the enemy of the US is. All of it looks like a divination, not an investigation, which lasted for almost two years and cost millions of dollars.”
“The more I learn about the so-called investigation, the less integrity and intellect I see,” said Veselnitskaya. “Declaring the country a threat, which by the way is not in special counsel’s responsibility, is not a thoughtful act, it is cowardice and recreancy.”
