US Representative Mark Meadows stated that US Attorney John Durham’s review of the origins of Trump-Russia probe is taking surprisingly long, Washington Examiner reported Thursday.
US Attorney General William Barr appointed Durham to review former special counsel Robert Mueller’s report and the origins of Mueller’s nearly two-years long investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election and possible obstruction of justice by the US President Donald Trump. Rep. In an interview with Lou Dobbs of Fox News, Meadows claimed that Durham and his team are “doing a lot of work behind the scenes” to get to the truth.
“I can tell, they’re reaching people that I thought only I had talked to,” Meadows said. “And it’s going to be a good day for America and a good day for justice.”
Talking about a recent report by the US Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Meadows expressed his hope that those guilty of misconduct will be held accountable.
“If people do not go to jail, and this is all about just talking and rhetoric and people are not held accountable. The American people will be disillusioned and say ‘enough is enough,'” he said.
