Former US Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who led investigation into Russian interference into the 2016 Presidential election and possible obstruction of justice by Donald Trump, is accused of lying about one of the key figures in his report, reported WND.
An investigative reporter of The Hill John Solomon found that Josef Mfsud, a Maltese-born professor mentioned in Mueller’s report as a Russian agent, is actually working for Western intelligence.
Having interviewed Mifsud’s attorneys, Solomon was told that the professor “was being directed specifically, he was asked to connect George Papadopoulos to Russia, meaning it was an operation, some form of intelligence operation.” According to Papadopoulos, former Trump’s aide, Mifsud was the one who told him Russians had damaging information on Trump’s then-opponent Hillary Clinton.
In an interview with Maria Bartiromo of Fox News, Solomon said that “the flesh point that started the whole investigation was in fact manufactured from the beginning.”
Papadopoulos says he is willing to testify about Mifsud. “Remember when Comey penned an op ed in the prestigious Washington Post and lied to both the American people and editors when he called Mifsud a Russian agent?” Papadopoulos said. “My testimony in front of the Senate should be interesting.”
Last month Mueller appeared before House Intelligence and Judiciary committee panels and was also asked about Mifsud. Representative Jim Jordan then asked Mueller why professor Mifsud mentioned in the report, who was interviewed and lied to the FBI, was not charged with a crime. “The guy who puts the whole country through this saga, starts it all – for three years we’ve lived through this now – he lies, and you guys don’t charge him,” Jordon said. “And I’m curious why.” Mueller responded: “Well, we can’t get into it, and it’s obvious, I think, that we can’t get into charging decisions.”
