Roger Stone, US President Donald Trump longtime adviser, who was charged with obstruction of justice, lying to Congress and witness tampering, has violated his bail conditions with social media posts, CNN reported Thursday.
A court filing released Thursday said that “in the past several days, Stone posted statements on social media about this case and the special counsel’s investigation and appears to have specifically targeted those posts at major media outlets.”
“On or about June 18 and 19, 2019, the defendant posted to Instagram and Facebook, commenting about this case and inviting news organizations to cover the issue. This is a violation of the current conditions of release.”
Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled to bar Stone from publicly speaking about his criminal case. Currently Stone is lives at his home in Florida while awaiting trial in November, yet the violation may lead to detention. The hearing on the case will be held on July 16.
Stone shared a number of articles on Facebook covering recent news about CrowdStrike, company hired by the DNC to investigate hacking of their servers in 2016, which provided DNC with no final report, but three redacted drafts.
