Russian immigrant charged with arms smuggling

Russian immigrant Vladimir Kuznetsov was arrested in the US on suspicion of exporting firearm parts into Russia, reported The Moscow Times Wednesday.

Kuznetsov has allegedly been smuggling restricted firearm parts, hiding them inside various mislabeled packages, for more than two years. Arrested on Tuesday and charged with illegal export of firearm parts from the US to Russia, Kuznetsov was released on bail terms the same day.

US Attorney Richard Donoghue said that “as alleged in the complaint, Kuznetsov violated laws intended to safeguard our national security.”
“Today’s arrest demonstrates our resolve to investigate and prosecute those who illegally export restricted items without regard for their end use, placing their own enrichment above our country’s interests,” he added.

The charges against the 58-year-old Brooklyn man are not nothing more than allegations, yet he may face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
