There’s “nothing wrong” with taking information from Russia

Rudy Giuliani, the US president Donald Trump’s lawyer, stated on Sunday after the release of the special counsel’s report that taking information from Russia wasn’t wrong, adding that getting help from Russians may have been “ill-advised” yet not illegal.

Talking about the Trump Tower meeting Giuliani said “There’s nothing wrong with taking information from Russians.” According to the report, the evidence is not enough to bring charges over the meeting and officials might have not known the actions were illegal.

“On the facts here, the government would unlikely be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the June 9 meeting participants had general knowledge that their conduct was unlawful,” the report stated. “The investigation has not developed evidence that the participants in the meeting were familiar with the foreign-contribution ban or the application of federal law to the relevant factual context.”
