British far-right activist and a former English Defense League founder Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, asked US President Donald Trump to grant him political asylum as he might be “sentenced to death” in Britain, reported Sky News Tuesday.
Robinson violated a reporting restriction at Leeds Crown Court in May 2018, which is considered to be “interference with the course of justice”. In an interview with InfoWars aired Monday, Robinson, who is awaiting trial, said: “I feel like I’m two days away from being sentenced to death in the UK.”
“I beg Donald Trump, I beg the American government, to look at my case. I need evacuation from this country because dark forces are at work. This is a direct appeal on behalf of my family – we love the United States, I have no future here.”
Robinson said that prisons in the UK are “controlled by jihadi gangs” and he would be killed if he’s thrown in jail.
“THE COUNTRY HAS FALLEN.”
US Department of State has not commented on the matter and it is unknown whether they have formal request form Robinson.
