Trump is said to break out the Iranian nuclear deal forgetting Obama’s impact. UK ambassador Darroch pointed that ‘the administration is set upon an act of diplomatic vandalism, seemingly for ideological and personality reasons.”
He claimed that the US President Donald Trump got out of the Iranian nuclear deal as it was connected with Barack Obama.
“The administration is set upon an act of diplomatic vandalism, seemingly for ideological and personality reasons – it was Obama’s deal,” ambassador Kim Darroch wrote in a diplomatic cable in May 2018.
The cable was added to another series of reports that were out in a Sunday newspaper, one of which made him retired.
In May last year foreign minister Boris Johnson visited Washington to try to urge Trump to carry on the deal with Iran.
In Darroch’s telegram was noted that Trump’s Campaign had discords on the decision.
“They can’t articulate any ‘day-after’ strategy; and contacts with State Department this morning suggest no sort of plan for reaching out to partners and allies, whether in Europe or the region,” Darroch wrote.
According to Darroch, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo “did some subtle distancing by talking throughout about ‘the president’s decision‘” during his speech. Pompeo also might hinted that he did his best to “sell” a revised text to the US President.
