Trump complains Obama has more Twitter followers

US president Donald Trump has been recently complaining that he has fewer followers on Twitter than former US president Barack Obama. The president even had a meeting in a White House with Jack Dorsey, Twitter chief, referring to this complaint, where they discussed the loss of followers and whether or not it may be a part of an anti-Trump agenda.

People with knowledge of the discussion say that Trump also mentioned that some conservatives had complained about similar problems they experienced.

Twitter deactivated about 5000 pro-Trump bots, which led to the meeting. Mr. Trump accused Twitter of “playing political games” and being “very discriminatory” towards Republicans and claimed to be better at tweeting than his predecessor. Yet, Dorsey reassured Trump saying that his company was only deleting fake accounts.

”Great meeting this afternoon at the [White House] with [Mr Dorsey] from [Twitter]. Lots of subjects discussed regarding their platform, and the world of social media in general. Look forward to keeping an open dialogue,” tweeted Trump later the same day.

The situation with president’s fixation on social media numbers is very similar to when Donald Trump claimed that he had more people at his inauguration than Obama. However documents prove that images of Trump’s inauguration were edited by the White House.

The White House has not commented on the matter yet.
