Trump offers Moscow US help to combat wildfires in Siberia

US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation Wednesday, reported the Washington Times.

President Trump offered help to President Putin to extinguish wildfires in Siberia. According to a statement by Kremlin’s press service, Trump “offered assistance to Moscow in fighting wildfires in Siberia.

Russian Embassy in the US said that “Putin has informed the US president that a large air group has been deployed in Siberia to fight forest fires, adding that he would use Trump’s offer of assistance if necessary.”

Media reports say that Russian president sees Trump’s offer as “a sign that fully-fledged bilateral relations could be restored in the future.”
Kremlin’s spokesperson stated that “the Russian president appreciated this step by the US president as a signal that the two countries will manage to restore full-format relations in future.”

The two leaders also discussed trade between Russia and the US and “have agreed to continue contacts both in the format of telephone conversations and personal meetings.”
