US President Donald Trump expressed his willingness to meet with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, at G20 Summit, which is to be held later this month in Osaka, Japan.
“I’ll be meeting with Putin at the G-20,” said Trump Wednesday and added that he’d meet President Xi Jinping of China and other leaders as well. “Do you want to be in the room?” Trump then asked the reporters gathered in the White House, noting that they “don’t trust anything.”
Putin said that he was hoping that at the G20 Summit the US and Russia would “be able to achieve constructive solutions that would create conditions for economic cooperation,” reported Sputnik News.
“We really hope that common sense will finally prevail. I hope that, together with our partners, including US partners, we will be able to achieve some solutions, as part of the upcoming G20 meeting, that will be constructive and will create stable conditions for economic cooperation,” Putin said.
Meanwhile, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that “the America side has not initiated the holding of a separate meeting.”
