Trump wants to end birthright citizenship

News

US President Donald Trump claimed that the constitutional right for the US citizenship for the children of non-citizens is “frankly ridiculous,” reported Vice.

President Trump, who made the same claim in 2018, said Wednesday he was planning to end the birthright through an executive order.

“We’re looking at that very seriously, birthright citizenship, where you have a baby on our land. You walk over the border, have a baby – congratulations, the baby is now a US citizen.”

Under the law of the US, any person “born or naturalized in the United States” gets the right to be the US citizen. Therefore, if the executive order by Trump Administration is issued, it would be definitely challenged in court.
