Two American teenagers accused of fatally stubbing Italian police officer

Two American teenagers have been arrested in Italy after killing a police officer, reported SBS News.

Gabriel Christian Natale Hjorth, 18, and Finnegan Lee Elder, 19, have been jailed after a fight with Italian policemen. Elder is reportedly a main suspect who stubbed a 35-year-old Italian officer, Mario Cerciello Rega, eight times. Natale Hjorth tried to strike another policeman.

According to the report, the US teenagers attempted to buy cocaine in Rome, but a drug dealer gave them “a different substance”; having realized that, the Americans snatched a bag full of drugs. The policemen were investigating the theft when the incident happened. Elder and Natale Hjorth are also accused of attempted extortion as they demanded a ransom of about $161 and one gram of pure cocaine for the bag.

At a Saturday hearing, Elder’s attorney said that the teenager would not respond any questions as that was his right. Natale Hjorth’s lawyer has not been contacted yet.
