Ukraine’s Secretary of the National Security and the Defense Counsel, Oleksandr Danyliuk, held a meeting with Catherine Sendak, Deputy Director of the US Department of Defense for the Balkans, Caucasus and Black Sea Region, reported NSCD.
US delegation headed by Sendak visited Ukraine and met with Danyliuk on Monday. The two sides reportedly discussed possible US-Ukraine cooperation on a number of issues, including “development of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, cyber security, logistics, comprehensive review, preparation of strategic planning documents for the security sector and preparation of Ukrainian military personnel.”
Sendak confirmed that the US is ready to assist Ukraine in its efforts to implement the defense reform.
According to the report, Ukrainian officials also raised a topic of “active militarization of Russia by the Black Sea region.” It was agreed at the meeting that the current situation in the region is a threat to Ukraine’s security and should be resolved.
