US Army veteran planning to “bomb Nazi rally”

A US Army veteran, Mark Domingo, has been arrested in the final stage of his plan to bomb California white supremacist rally, say US authorities.

Domingo, 26, has also allegedly planned attacks on Jews, police and churches in revenge for the New Zealand mosque shootings.

According to Nick Hanna, federal prosecutor, “This investigation successfully disrupted a very real threat posed by a trained combat soldier who repeatedly stated he wanted to cause the maximum number of casualties.”

Domingo wanted to attack a far-right group who was supposed to march on Sunday, but did not show up. The idea to bomb the meeting in Bluff Park, Long Beach, was discussed on 19 April between an attacker and the FBI agent. Domingo came to the meeting with an agent holding an AK-47-style rifle is order to show his determination.

Domingo posted online that “America needs another Vegas event”, referring to the mass shooting in Las Vegas in October 2017, considered to be the deadliest attack in modern US history, in order to “give them a taste of the terror they gladly spread all over the world”, said prosecutors.

If convicted, Mark Domingo will be sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.
